The tourism boom and the English-teaching bonanza are inextricably linked as discussed in “Traveling in Mexico: The City of Orizaba”. Opportunities are plentiful, but don’t expect them to fall out of the palm trees on you. With a few phone calls and interviews though, you should have some good options from which to choose. Only two blocks from the city center, and located on the third floor of the building, Harmon Hall welcomes applicants who are native speakers and have a university degree in any area. Previous teaching experience is not a requisite, but desire, commitment and a flexible attitude are. There a month-long training period in their methodology and an observation period before full-time classes are offered. Pay does vary a bit depending on background, education and experience. You can contact them in advance to query for particulars or call for an appointment in you’re going to be in the area. They teach adults, adolescents and children so a good variety is possible.
